Visiting the Arboretum

The Arboretum grounds are open at this time for visitors. Members always have free admission to the Arboretum, but through the end of April admission is free for everyone.  If you would like to support the Arboretum at this time through membership, LEARN MORE HERE

All Arboretum facilities are closed for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19.  We will assess the COVID-19 situation each Monday morning to determine when to reopen facilities.  This will be reviewed weekly until we get cleared by federal, state and local officials.  Check back here for updates or on the Arboretum social media channels.

We care about the health of our community and want the Arboretum to be a place of respite accessible to everyone in our community. We encourage you to enjoy the many benefits it offers you.

To help protect staff and other guests, we request that everyone observe CDC guidelines and stay home if experiencing any symptoms.

In an emergency, dial 911.

FloraKansas Native Plant Festival

Arboretum staff are still working hard to get our FloraKansas Native Plant Sale ready, but have made the decision to postpone our in-person festival/sale portion of the event until further notice. We are excited, however, to offer an alternative plan to put plants in your hands and still help you fulfill your spring native plant gardening goals!

We will be taking plant orders, pulling plants for you, and scheduling a time convenient for you to pick them up at Dyck Arboretum.

Orders will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis and lined up in queue for us to fulfill as soon as possible. First priority will be given to our Dyck Arboretum members, but we plan to do our very best to eventually fulfill the native wildflower, grass, sedge, tree, and shrub needs of all our community patrons.

Please submit your order by using the Contact Us form and be sure to leave us your phone and email. In your message, include the names (including species name) and quantities of the plants you would like.

Native Plant Guide
If you are needing assistance in choosing plants for your site, please include your questions in your message and one of our expert staff or volunteers will follow up with you by email or phone to provide consultation – much like you would typically experience in the greenhouse, just from a distance.

To limit personal contact, an invoice will be emailed for each pre-order that can be paid online. For those who are unable to pick up orders, please let us know and we will see what we can organize for delivery or coordination with others in your area.

We greatly appreciate your support and will notify you of any other changes to this schedule in the coming weeks. Please know that Dyck Arboretum of the Plains sincerely appreciates your support and your friendship.

Membership Benefits

Member benefits are being adapted in the following ways through July 1, 2020:

  • In the absence of a FloraKansas Member Day, plant pre-orders submitted by current members will be fulfilled before non-members. To submit an order, use the Contact Us form.
  • All members can enjoy a ONE-TIME extra bonus during this year’s Spring FloraKansas virtual event with purchase of plants. Stay tuned for more details!
  • The American Horticultural Society has encouraged member gardens in the Reciprocal Admission Program to honor recently expired memberships for an additional 1 to 2 months upon re-opening. Check with individual gardens to verify if this is being observed.
  • Many public gardens have been sharing virtual tours on social media. Follow your favorite gardens or sign up for email updates from the AHS or American Public Gardens Association to learn more!
