About the Event

Join historian Steve Schmidt for an enlightening journey along the historic Santa Fe Trail. From 1821 to 1880, this critical route was a corridor for commerce while shaping the cultural history of Kansas and the American Southwest. Schmidt is not only a thoughtful interpreter of characters and cultures along the trail, he is also an avid steward of the prairie ecosystem that preserves and shows off the remaining trail ruts. Experience Schmidt’s passionate trail advocacy and learn how this historic pathway left a lasting mark on our state’s history. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about the what, when, where, and why of the Santa Fe Trail.
