One of the wonderful things about working with native plants is that they provide a lifetime of enjoyment and discovery. For those of you that want to learn more about landscaping with native plants, during this class session, you will have a choice of attending one of two 45 minute long classes, followed by a tour of the Arboretum grounds for context:

  • “Natives for the New Front Yard” with Scott Vogt, Arboretum Director. In this class, Scott will walk you through the steps of adding more native plants to your front yard, minimizing lawn and increasing the area of your yard that is drought tolerant, attracts wildlife and pollinators, and pleases the senses. For more on this subject, read Scott’s blog post on the subject.
  • “Plant Communities Design Workshop” with Katie Schmidt, Grounds Manager and Horticulturist. In in this session, Katie will talk about how to design your native plant flower beds in a way that mimics native plant communities in the wild.

Cost is $10/non-member or $8/member. Please call the Arboretum office at 620-327-8127 or email arboretum@hesston.edu to reserve your spot.
