On Saturday, March 16, 2024, Dyck Arboretum of the Plains will host its 12th Go Green Leprechaun Run, including both a 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk and a 10K Run. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 9:15 a.m. for both distances at Dyck Arboretum of the Plains, 177 West Hickory in Hesston. Both chip-timed distances will begin at 9:30.

And we challenge you to do 81k for the month preceding! See our 81k Fitness Challenge below, that includes race day registration!

Race swag for the 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk and a 10K Run is a comfortable and snappy tri-blend tee and swag for the 81k Challenge is a cozy long-sleeved 1/4-zip pullover. Registration for the 81k Challenge includes registration for either race distance and will get you both the tee and pullover.

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION is available through midnight on Wednesday, March 6 (add $5 afterward). Online registration will close midnight, Thursday, March 14, but in-person registration is available on March 15 at packet pickup (3-6 p.m.) and before the race March 16 (8:30-9:15 a.m.).

81k CHALLENGE!

Are you ready for a new fitness goal? For our 12th Go Green Leprechaun Run, we are adding a new challenge to get you moving more in 2024. Our annual 2-mile/10K Go Green Leprechaun Run event will take place Saturday, March 16.

In the month preceding (Feb 16 to Mar 16), we challenge you to log an additional distance (run, walk, or bike – your choice!) to kick-start your 2024 fitness goals and get you in peak shape to Go Green on March 16!

We think 81k is a nice target number. Dyck Arboretum of the Plains was founded in 1981 and Hesston is located on Highway 81. Eighty-one kilometers in 30 days amounts to 2.7 km/day (equal to 1.7 miles/day and 12 miles per week). Track your progress on our distance leader board to see how others are faring along with you.

Can you do more? Perhaps you want to set your sights higher and make it 81 miles. Approximately 6,100 walking steps/day would help you meet that challenge. If you can get into 10K running shape by February, running three 10Ks (6.2 miles each) per week would about get you to 81 miles.
