Wednesday, September 20, 7:45 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Join us for an excursion to a couple of Kansas City, Kansas-area horticultural havens while gaining great ideas for your home landscaping. Botanical encyclopedia tour guides will entertain and engage us on this trip with landscapes at the peak of their early fall splendor.
Master gardener Lenora Larson will lead us through her 2-acre home oasis. Long Lips Farm features a butterfly garden and sculpture garden in rural Paola. North American Butterfly Association, Monarch Waystation, and National Wildlife Federation have certified this landscape and Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation has and endorsed it as a model pollinator garden.
After lunch at the local favorite Timbercreek Bar and Grill in Louisburg, we will visit Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens (OPABG). Kansas native plant guru Ken O’ Dell will give us a tour of his favorite horticultural features at the beautiful OPABG ranging from the wild to the manicured.
Report to the Dyck Arboretum parking lot by 7:30 a.m. Members $45, Non-members $50 (lunch not included in registration). This trip has limited space. Call 620-327-8127 for reservations.
